Glossary for Blackjack Game Variations

Blackjack is a classic card game that has been in existence for quite a while, long enough for there to be several different game variations that each offer different challenges and payouts for many players. Each type has unique set of advantages and disadvantages, and while some can have a very low house edge, others have overwhelming odds and are a typical playground for players who can stand the risk. You are also welcome to take a look at other William Hill Vegas live card games and see if anything gives you more satisfaction than blackjack. This article provides a small overview of the most popular game Blackjack variations, and how one can easily win while engaged in the card games that the Blackjack world can offer you.

Atlantic City Blackjack

This is the most enjoyable and popular version of the game for the lower ranked players due to the game having the lower house edge, as well as for allowing different maneuvers that would be forbidden in other game types. The rules are the same as those of the standard game, except that the dealer starts with two cards and immediately checks for Blackjack. If he indeed has it, the game ends with you having lost only your initial bet. Another great advantage of the game is that you can double on any of the first two cards. You can also double if you decide to split. Late surrender is allowed, as well as re-splitting cards in to three hands; this allows for a lower house edge and bigger payouts.

European Blackjack

This is also a version of the game that tightly follows the rules set by the original Blackjack game, except that it is something that offers a lower house edge than most game variants. It is the second lowest after that of Atlantic City Blackjack, not because of what is allowed but because there are only two standard decks in play. This allows for a greater chance of the player getting the card that they are looking for to complete their hand. If the dealer‘s first card is an ace, the player is allowed to place an insurance which gives him the two to three bet ratio, meaning that they will get two thirds of their bet back if the dealer’s hand is not a bust.

Vegas Strip Blackjack

This is also a game that follows the basic rules of the original card game; however, here the player has the best chance of winning with a short hand. The longer they play their hand out, the bigger chance they will lose due to not getting the cards that they need for completing the hand.
